Day 01: Delhi - Chail

Begin your Camping in the Himalayas tour with a scenic drive from Delhi to Chail, the location of our first campsite. Proceed directly to the campsite and check in with the camp manager, who will show you your tents. This campsite is more like our transit camp as we will stay here for just a night, before going on to Sangla, where our Himalayan camping adventure actually begins. Settle down and relax while enjoying the scenic views.

Day 02: Chail - Sangla

After breakfast, check out from the camps at Chail and proceed to Sangla, the second destination on this Camping in the Himalayas tour. Once at Sangla, proceed to check in at the Banjara Camps, Sangla. No activities are set for today, leaving you free to relax and enjoy the surroundings for the rest of the day.

Day 03: Sangla

After breakfast, we set out to explore the stunningly scenic surroundings and enjoy many adventures. Enjoy a nature trek up to the Sangla Meadows for exquisite views of the Kinner Kailash range; enjoy trekking up to the Batseri Village and the Glacier Point just beyond; up the adventure level of the holiday with a paragliding session or revel in the peaceful activity of fishing for trout. The day ends with a bonfire back at the Banjara Camp in Sangla.

Day 04: Sangla (Excursion to Chitkul)

After breakfast, we will embark on an excursion to Chitkul, a small village that has the distinction of being the last village on the Indian side of the old Indo-Tibetan Trade Route and the village closest to the Indo-Tibetan Border. We will take along a picnic lunch and enjoy it along the sparkling clear, fresh waters of a glacier-fed mountain stream. Our excursion to Chitkul ends with a drop, back to the Banjara Campsite in Sangla.

Day 05: Sangla - Tabo

After breakfast, check out from the Sangla Banjara Camp and proceed to Tabo, the next destination on this Camping in the Himalayas tour. However, we will not camp here; instead, we will stay the night at the Banjara Retreat, Tabo. En-route, we will visit Nako, a scenic hill village located in the sensitive restricted zone along the Indo-Tibet border.

Nestled high above at 11,800 ft. above sea level, Nako is home to the scenic Nako Lake as well, a beautiful lake, with four Buddhist temples on its banks. Explore the region and visit the Nako monastery, temples and the lake before continuing on to Tabo.

Day 06: Tabo - Kaza

After breakfast, we set out for an excursion to the 10th Century Tabo Monastery. The excursion ends with a drop back at the Banjara Retreat, where we have lunch, check out and then set out for Kaza, our next destination. En-route, we will visit the Dhankar Monastery. On arrival at Kaza, we will proceed to the Banjara Retreat for check-in.

Day 07: Kaza - Tabo

After breakfast, check out from the Banjara Retreat in Kaza and return to Tabo. En-route, enjoy an excursion to the 11th Century Ki Monastery, which is the largest monastery in the Spiti Valley and enjoys a lofty position at an altitude of 13,668 ft. Later, we will visit the Gette Village, one of the highest motorable villages in the world. The day ends with a drop, back to the Banjara Retreat in Tabo.

Day 08: Tabo - Thanedar

After breakfast, check out from the Banjara Retreat in Tabo and proceed to Thanedar, the spot where apple cultivation in India was first begun after Samuel Stokes, an American Missionary planted the first Apple Orchard here. On arrival at Thanedar, proceed directly to the Banjara Orchard Retreat, a retreat set in the midst of apple and cherry orchards.

Day 09: Thanedar

After breakfast, we will visit the Paramjyoti Temple, a temple founded by the missionary Samuel Stokes. The temple has no idols or images and is devoted to the Universal God, the One who transcends all names, words and forms. Verses from the Bhagwad Gita adorn its walls. Later on, we will visit the Tani Jubbar Lake, a lake tiny in size but exquisite in beauty before returning to the resort.

Day 10: Thanedar - Delhi

After breakfast, we will begin our return journey to Delhi.
