Himalayan Camping and Rafting Adventure

Overview

Escape the crowds and noise of city life and venture on a tour that tests your zest for adventure. A 10 Nights/ 11 Days tour package, this Himalayan Camping and Rafting Adventure is perfect in just about every sense and the remedy to mild to worst cases of city fatigue. Based in and around the Himalayas, this tour takes you to some of the least visited places in the Himalayas, known only to seasoned trekkers and adventurers.

From Hathipaon, the first destination in this tour to Thanedar, the last Himalayan destination, stay in camps; enjoy white water rafting and trekking; witness stunning sunrises and equally mesmerizing sunsets; and check out the native birds both in a sanctuary setting and by the campsites. We also visit local attractions including ancient temples and high-altitude villages. The only exclusion to this off-the-beaten-path tour is our mid-tour stay in Rampur, the biggest commercial township in Himachal Pradesh.

Day 01: Delhi - Hathipaon

Set out to explore some of the least-treaded paths of the Himalayas with this Himalayan Camping & Rafting Adventure. This tour of discovery and adventure begins with a drive from the bustling city of Delhi to Hathipaon, a secluded high-altitude scenic spot near Dehradun. On arrival at Hathipaon, proceed to the campsite pre-booked for you and check in with the onsite camp manager. Once you have settled into your respective tents, relax and enjoy the scenic vistas and revel in the sense of wilderness.

Day 02: Hathipaon

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will enjoy a trek to the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary, where in addition to revelling in the beauty of a stunning sunrise, we can enjoy bird watching. Later, return to the camp for breakfast and then set out once again to visit the Park Estate, which was once the residence of the First Surveyor General of India, Sir George Everest and other attractions in Hathipaon. Return to camp before daylight begins to fade.

Day 03: Hathipaon - Mori

After breakfast, check out from the camp at Hathipaon and set out on a scenic journey by road to Mori, a scenic outpost on the banks of the River Tons, renowned for its white water rafting amongst seasoned white water rafters and adventurers, but little known to the rest of the touristy world.

On arrival, we will proceed to check in at the Banjara Rafting Camp, Mori. Settle down and enjoy the ambience and the music of the rapids gushing past.

Day 04: Mori (White Water River Rafting Adventure)

After breakfast, enjoy a wild white water rafting trip down the rapids of the River Tons. Later, return to the camp.

Day 05: Mori - Rampur

After breakfast, check out from the camp at Mori and proceed on the scenic drive to Rampur, once one of the largest of the Shimla Hill States and now the biggest commercial township in Himachal Pradesh. Enjoy a luxury city break after 4 days of relative seclusion and off-the-beaten-path travel. We check-in at the HPTDC Hotel Bushehar Regency, a state-run hotel with pagoda-style architecture and rooms overlooking the Sutlej River.

Day 06: Rampur - Sangla

After breakfast, we will check out of our hotel in Rampur and proceed to Sangla Valley, one of the most picturesque valleys in Himachal Pradesh. Proceed directly to Banjara Camps, Sangla and check in with the onsite camp manager. Settle down in your respective tents and enjoy the whiff of fresh air and the return to nature.

Day 07: Sangla (Excursion to Chitkul)

After breakfast, we will enjoy an excursion to Chitkul, the last inhabited village on the Indian side of the Indo-Tibetan Road and the village closest to the Indo-Tibetan Border. The vistas are scenic and a picnic lunch alongside a glacier-fed mountain stream enables you to enjoy the most of your trip up here. The excursion ends with a drop, back at the Banjara Camps at Sangla Valley.

Day 08: Sangla

After breakfast, gather once again for a wonderful day out in the great outdoors. The day is essentially planned for flexibility in adventures. Guests can enjoy a nature trek up to the Sangla Meadows and be rewarded with exquisite views of the Kinner Kailash range; enjoy trekking up to the Batseri Village and the Glacier Point just beyond; up the adventure level of the holiday with a paragliding session or revel in the peaceful activity of fishing for trout. The day ends with a bonfire back at the Banjara Camp in Sangla.

Day 09: Sangla -Thanedar

After a heart breakfast, check out from the camps at Sangla and proceed to Thanedar, the spot where apple cultivation in India was first begun after Samuel Stokes, an American Missionary planted the first Apple Orchard here. On arrival at Thanedar, proceed directly to the Banjara Orchard Retreat, a retreat set in the midst of apple and cherry orchards.

Day 10: Thanedar

After breakfast, we will visit the Paramjyoti Temple, a temple founded by the missionary Samuel Stokes. The temple has no idols or images and is devoted to the Universal God, the One who transcends all names, words and forms. Verses from the Bhagwad Gita adorn its walls. Later on, we will visit the Tani Jubbar Lake, a lake tiny in size but exquisite in beauty before returning to the resort.

Day 11: Thanedar-Delhi

After breakfast, we will begin our return journey to Delhi.
